I am better, but pardon me if I’m still a little queasy from this roller coaster ride.
As much as I’m happy about the news that the decision is one again in our hands as a city, I am still disappointed that yesterdays confusion overshadowed what should have been the big news of the day: the City staff report that all but killed the East Mountain stadium.
I’m sure the coming days will bring more drama, but we’re so close to realising the West Harbour stadium I can taste it.
I was down at the Stuart Street site today participating in my brother Matt’s Garbage Crawl event. Even then as we assumed the dream of a West Harbour stadium was dashed there was such an enthusiasm among the crawlers about the prospect that at least something might be done to help the area.
Later, at the Hess Village rally, seeing hundreds of Hamiltonians turn out to support what seemed hopeless was very heartening. These people deserve to have their voices heard and today’s Federal announcement was fantastic news.
I’m cautiously optimistic, but the coaster may still have a few loops ahead.
